Happy National Smores Day!

Happy National S’mores Day! Let’s celebrate around the campfire (or microwave/oven if you’re indoors) and share our favorite s’mores recipes.

First things first: Marshmallow roast rating.

🚨 Controversial Alert 🚨

On a scale of 1 (right out of the bag) to 5 (right out of the bag of charcoal), how are you roasting your marshmallows? For me, I’m going just past the golden brown (3), and if I’m being honest, I like catching it on fire just a little.

Alternative S’mores Toppings

Milk Chocolate

This is for the purist who thinks they got it right the first time. It’s a classic for a reason!

Dark Chocolate

One of the easiest – and my personal favorite – ways to mix up the traditional s’more recipe. That little bit of bitterness you don’t get from the standard milk chocolate really helps to mellow out the sweet-on-sweet. One might describe it as elegant. Or as elegant as being covered in sticky marshmallow residue and graham cracker crumbs can be.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup

An elite s’mores variation. Sub out the regular piece of chocolate for a Reese’s. The size of the Reese’s works perfectly for a s’more, and the salty-sweetness of the peanut butter adds that next-level flavor profile. Seriously, give this one a try!

Cookies and Cream

Our first step down a cookies-and-cream flavored spiral that we accidentally fell down while experimenting with recipes. Cookies and cream chocolate bars taste delicious on both regular graham crackers or chocolate graham crackers!

S’moreo

Deeper down the spiral we go. Milk’s favorite cookie meets the campfire’s favorite treat. Open your Oreo cookie and scrape (or lick, no judgement here) out the stuffing — or just leave it in. How you s’moreo is up to you! Add your roasted marshmallow, and voila!

S’moreo with Oreo Reese’s

They said it couldn’t be done. We’d be crazy to attempt it, but here we are on the other side of S’moreo-ception. Because why not? And honestly, I’m a dark chocolate girl at heart, but this was my surprise dark horse.

As I prepare for the inevitable sugar crash that is sure to hit… Let me know, do you do your s’mores differently? Will you be trying any of these at your next campfire?
